Tallinn's biggest beach, located in Pirita — the city's most prestigious district — is the most favourite leisure-time place of Tallinn's residents. In summer the number of visitors reaches 30,000 a day. The best beach in the country boasts an amazing view of the Old Town and the lively Gulf of Finland with yachts, boats and world-famous cruise liners. Sand courts for beach volleyball, fields for football, playgrounds, beach chairs and water-sports rentals are all at your disposal. Nearby are Pirita Seikluspark adventure park, the yachting centre built for the 1980 Olympics and a beautiful lighthouse reached via a walk along the pier. The two-kilometre beach is surrounded by a pine wood and awarded a Blue Flag. The city centre is 10 minutes away by car or bus. The main building was built for the 1980 Olympics and opened on 13 July 1979; rooms were fully renovated in 2016.
